“As a result of the confidence in our current waste and
recycling contractor, Waste Corporation of America (WCA), all five New
Territory MUD Districts have favorably considered and are expected to enter
into a new 4-year contract with WCA effective October 1, 2010.The contract will include greater recycling
capacity at no increase in costs. As a
result of the new contract, New Territory residents will be receiving a new recycling
bin for regularly scheduled curbside pick up on the normal weekly recycling
days. The new bins have 5 to 6 times the
capacity of old blue bins, and are for recycling items only.Residents will be allowed to keep the old
bins, or have them picked up by WCA on a date to be announced.
WCA has introduced the new recycling bins to only a few
other smaller communities in Ft.Bend with exceptional
success. The new bins will be an
environmentally friendly solution to a growing trend and public awareness for
recycling programs, and as the largest Ft. Bend county contributor, New
Territory could be a pioneer in it's incorporation of the larger bins and
resident involvement.Here is a short
list of what you need to know to make a difference:
1)New Bins will arrive at your residence beginning
on September 14th, and can be used on your next normal recycling
day.The bins will stay at the NewTerritory
residence, and will remain the property of WCA.
2)Fliers with details about the recycling program
will be delivered with the bins. These
fliers will announce the specific date when unwanted old bins will be
collected.
3)Fill the new bins with all of the recyclable
items you have before, including glass.Place the new bins next to trash cans on your normal weekly recycling
day.
New Territory is a leader in FortBendCounty as a Master Planned
Community and currently boasts one of the highest recycling participation rates
out of the 180,000+ homes served by WCA in the Greater Houston
area. Let’s become the leader in a county effort as an
environmentally friendly community.”
These are some typical household items to take precaution with when disposing. This information was taken from the Fort Bend County Gov.com website. For more information visit:
